Near Hoi An lie the ancient Cham ruins of My Son. The Kingdom of Champa flourished between the 2nd and 15th centuries along coastal Vietnam. This site was inhabited for nearly a millenium, was a religious and intellectual center, and may also have served as a burial place for Cham monarchs.
