Philippines
I have gone to the Philippines twice now, both times for
work. I am working with one of Conservation International's field offices
there and I generally go over for two weeks at a time to train them
on some mapping techniques. It's great fun, because they are a great
team and full of life.We are currently involved with mapping forest
and forest loss in some of the key areas of this archipelago. The Philippines
has some of the highest biodiversity in the world and is under tremendous
threat right now, so it's critical to maintain as much forest habitat
as possible.
During my trips, I spend most of my time in Manila (unfortunately),
but I also have taken a few trips outside this sprawling and congested
city.
