The Virgin of Guadalupe Day, on Dec. 13 is the most important religious celebration in Mexico, even larger than Christmas. Many Mexicans pay tribute to the Virgin Mary by making pilgrimages from their home towns or villages into the city. This church in San Cristobal is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, so the pilgrims come here to pay their respects.
