Bali

I spent Christmas 2006 on this wonderful island. Bali is one of the many islands in Indonesia, but it's very distinct with it's own culture and language. The Balinese are predominantly Hindus and thus they are a minority in this muslim nation. The island is full of temples, and in fact, houses have their own religious edifices as well. The island is absolutely full of religious art and because of this, it's just beautiful. The Balinese have been crafting their religious art for centuries and today they use their talents to create carvings and art for export. This is a good thing because since the 2002 and 2004 bombings, tourism has been slow and many people are suffering because of it.
